Reporter ‘died doing what she loved’

A 34-year-old journalist died recently in Afghanistan doing her job, which she loved a lot. She was so adventurous and determined that she went to Afghanistan to report for CanWest News Service. The journalist Michelle Lang died in Afghanistan on 30th December 2009.

She is the first journalist to be killed in Afghanistan from Canadian. She was killed along with four Canadian soldiers when a massive roadside bomb near the city of Kandahar struck their vehicle.

Calgary Herald’s editor-in-chief said that she was socially responsible and wanted to make a difference. She was never afraid to take challenges. Instead she loved to work, work for a cause.

She was about to return home on 23rd January and get married in a couple of months. One of his close friends said that Ms. Lang had plans of getting married, buying a house, and having children once she returned home.

Lang won a National Newspaper Award in 2008 as a health reporter at the Calgary Herald.
