There are reports that the head of Russia’s Olympic Committee has resigned after the Nation enrolled its worst performance at the Winter Games.
A committee spokesman said, Leonid Tyagachyov is determined to resign after Russia completed with only three golds in its 15-medal gain from Vancouver. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev addressed on Russia’s senior sports officials to resign. He compared sports bureaucrats to “fat cats”. The 2014 Winter Olympics are to be conducted in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi. A spokesman for Mr Tyagachyov said the press holdall of the Russian Olympic Committee “was hasty in dismissing his manager”. Mr Medvedev had warned that if sports officials were unwilling to step down, “we will help them”.
The old Sports Minister, Mr Tyagachyov, 63, was appointed in 2001 and was observed powerful to help Russia win the 2014 Winter Olympics. The Itar-Tass news agency recalled a spokesman of the Olympic Committee as disclosing Mr Tyagachyov had submitted a letter of resignation.
