There are number of technologies used by car manufacturers, in making the cars having improved communication in them and which provides absolute convenience to the passengers, which typically include push-button key less ignition, automatic rain sensing wipers and THX surround sound audio etc.
The following are the innovative technologies applied by the car makers, while manufacturing the cars:
Wi-Fi:
The Audi A8 is equipped with Wi-Fi technology by plugging a data plan equipped smart phone into a car wireless router. Using the phone’s Internet connection, about eight laptops, iPads or other Wi-Fi devices can surf the Web. Cars and minivans by Chrysler are equipped with Web hotspot Technology, as a dealer-installed option.
Connectivity:
Ford’s SYNC system integrated blue tooth and i phone in the vehicle. The system offers audible turn by turn directions and if in case the car is involved in an accident, it immediately calls 911 using the cell phone. Kia’s UVO and Fiat’s Blue and Me are offering the same system. All these function based on the Microsoft Software.
Smart phone applications:
Nissan Leaf owners can activate the climate control with the use of smart phone, it also displays the charge level facilitating drivers to monitor its progress. In GM vehicles, OnStar MyLink app can lock or unlock the car from any distance, start the car remotely, activate the lights and horn, display the fuel level, estimate remaining oil life, etc.,
Touch screens:
To enter an address for navigation, drivers draw letters and numbers on a small touch pad with their fingertips with the help of MMI Touch in the Audi A8. Nissan Juke has a new system called I-CON with which drivers can control climate, adjust the gas pedal response, etc., My Ford Touch has a combination of SYNC system, configurable instrument cluster and a touch screen in which the instrument cluster helps to display a tachometer, trip computer, music library or general controls on two 4inch screens on either side of the speedometer.
