The work culture in today’s life is different from the primitive world. However, human beings emotional and instinctive defense systems were designed to survive the primitive cave man age that lasted a million years. So our natural biological system is really a distorted one, where we tend to forget that our biological system is not meant to fight a tiger in our corporate working life. And if we keep on doing something which is not meant for us, this system is bound to crash. Stress is the fight between automatic responses of the primitive defense mechanisms and the challenges of modern life. And before our body crashes, we must do something about it. Doing some kind of stress relief activities can help a lot in this direction. But which of the activities will be effective?

Change in Lifestyle- Our erratic lifestyle contributes a lot to the stress. So, the primary stress relief activity is to change it to a healthy lifestyle. Go to bed early so that you can get a good night’s rest. Getting late in the night, when your time to report to work is fixed only reduces your sleeping time. Detach yourself from internet and emails. Reduce junk food. Eat fresh food regularly. Avoid skipping your breakfast. Incorporate physical exercises in your everyday life. Make it a point to smile regularly throughout the day. Take small breaks and go for small weekend trips, whenever possible. These little things will detoxify your mind of accumulated stress and you will start feeling better.

Pursue a Hobby- Dig out your old forgotten hobby that used to be your passion once. It can be cooking, writing, knitting, traveling. Distracting yourself from the stress causing factors is enough to reduce the level of stress. At the top of it, the feeling that you are doing something you love to and best at will boost your moral. You will love every moment of it and your cluttered mind will be cleared.

Gardening- This is one stress relief activity which is beneficial not only for you but for the environment as well. At the same time, it has been proven by the experts that this is one of the most effective way to reduce the stress level. Being close to nature and dealing with soil reduces cortisol level- a hormone responsible for stress in us. If you don’t have a lawn or garden, utilize your patio or balcony. You can consult online resources to know more about using small spaces for gardening. You will feel the change in you and rediscover yourself.

Cooking- You can solve your stress and anxiety related problems gastronomically. Cooking is a great way to unwind yourself. More you try new recipes better you will feel. Also, by cooking yourself, you will be avoid the unhealthy junk or ready to eat.

Traveling- If your boss and pocket allows, then there cannot be anything better to get rid of stress other than traveling. This not only distracts you and keep you away from the stress, but also enriches you. You visit new places, meet more people and get exposure of things that you did not know exist. The trips don’t have to be extravagant. Keep them economical so that you can increase their frequency.

The above are some time-tested methods for stress relief. In addition to that they are also sensible methods that will work out for most people.

The post Time Tested and Sensible Stress Relief Activities first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Bottled water usage has become popular in recent years due to the concerns about the taste and purity of the tap water.

Due to the absence of fluoride in bottled water they affect the oral health and leads to dental decay. Thus by drinking bottled water, risk of dental cavities increases. Following article gives idea about the importance of fluoride and the affects caused by its absence in bottle water

Role of fluoride for healthy tooth

Fluoride is a mineral which protects people from dental decay or tooth decay.

It gets incorporated in to the teeth as they develop and make them resistant to decay which is essential for the development of adult teeth in children.

It remineralizes the tooth surface by making the enamel strong and prevent cavities from forming.

Fluoride is used for reversing the progression of cavities and prevent the need of dental treatments for restoration such as fillings.

Water fluoridation is a cost effective measure available for reducing the incidence of tooth decay.

Environmental protection agency (EPA) `determined that the concentration for fluorine in tap water should approximate to 0.7- 1.2 parts per million.

How bottled water (fluorine free) affects healthy teeth?

Companies which make bottled water and filtration systems present in home either use reverse osmosis techniques or distillation unit for removing the impurities and sediments present in the water.

Reverse osmosis is a process where it filters out some chemicals and minerals while distillation is the process which uses heat to steam the water from the impurities present in it.

Finally the steam which is obtained is converted back to water and bottled for use.

As of American dental association water should contain about 0.7-1.2 mg per liter of fluoride fro cavity protection but due tot he above process only 0.3 mg per liter of fluoride is present where an average man need 4 mg of fluoride per day.

Diets which add up fluoride to your body

Commercially made foods and other beverages that are fluoride protected can be taken.

Tooth pastes having fluoride and applied gels helps in strengthen the teeth by hardening the enamel surface.

Dietary supplements having fluoride in forms like tablets, lozenges are made available only by prescription to children aged from 6 months to 16 years.

Drinking fluoride free bottled water increases the risk of dental cavities. Hence, one should be aware of the importance of fluoride to teeth which is commonly absent in bottled water and so the above data helps in understanding the affects of bottled water on your teeth.

Lasers have been used in dentistry since 1994 to treat a number of dental problems. These lasers are different from the cold lasers used in phototherapy for the relief of headaches, pain, and inflammation. Electrically Accelerated and Enhanced Re mineralization (EAER) deals with a small electrical current allowing calcium and phosphate to remineralize the tooth thus protecting from decay. Use of a low intensity laser can regrow dentin and reverse tooth decay. The light from the laser activates a chemical in the mouth which stimulates stem cells and act as a repair system for the body deep within teeth.

Traditional process to treat tooth decay
In traditional method dentists will drill into the decayed area and remove the unhealthy material from it. A drill basically grinds away everything in its path. And it sets up heat, friction and vibration that effect the nerve. After removing the decay and cleaning the area, the tooth colored material is applied in layers which is followed by exposing to a special light that hardens each layer applied. When the multilayer process is completed the shaping of the composite material to the desired result by trimming off any excess material and then polish the final restoration.

Working of laser in treating tooth decay
A laser works specifically only on the diseased part of the tooth. Decayed tooth has high water content compared to healthy tooth. Hence laser selectively targets to vaporize only the decay area. It doesn’t effect the nerve of the tooth.

Compared to traditional drill lasers have benefits like:

They cause less pain in cases where the usage of anesthesia is reduced.

Lasers also reduce anxiety in patients who are uncomfortable with the use of dental drill.

They minimize selling during soft tissue treatments.

They enable to preserve more of the healthy tooth during cavity removal.

Lasers enable to regenerate bone and ligament tissue.

They eliminate bleeding of the gums immediately.

The disadvantages of lasers are that:

Lasers can’t be used on teeth with fillings already in place.

Lasers can’t be used to fill cavities located between teeth, around old fillings, and large cavities that need to be prepared for a crown.

Lasers cannot be used to remove defective crowns or silver fillings, or prepare teeth for bridges.

Traditional drills may still be needed to shape the filling, adjust the bite, and polish the filling even when a laser is used.

Lasers do not eliminate the need for anesthesia.

Laser treatment tends to be more expensive the cost of the laser is much higher than a dental drill.

Despite the drawbacks of taking a laser treatment it is quite effective and useful for treatment. .It is believed that present diets are expediting tooth decay as acidic foods and drinks like citrus and soda erode enamel. Increased amounts of carbohydrates and refined sugars have also been identified as a cause leaving people more prone to developing decay.

Impacted wisdom tooth are the third molars at the back of the mouth that do not have enough space to develop or emerge normally. They result in damage to other teeth, pain and other dental problems. In few cases these teeth may not cause any apparent problems but they are hard to clean and are more vulnerable to gum disease and tooth decay compared to other teeth.

Causes: The main causes for impacted tooth are as follows:

Wisdom tooth becomes impacted when they do not have enough space to develop normally.

An impacted wisdom tooth may partially emerge where the crown will be visible (partially impacted) or it never break through the gums (fully impacted).

A partially impacted tooth can trap plaque, food and other debris in the soft tissue present around it which can lead to tenderness of gums, inflammation and unpleasant mouth odor.

The retained plaque, debris may lead to the decay of neighboring tooth or wisdom tooth.

Impacted tooth pushes on next tooth which in turn pushes the next tooth eventually causing misalignment of the bite.

Symptoms: Impacted-wisdom-tooth when infected and damages other teeth show certain signs and symptoms such as:

Bad breath

Prolonged jaw ache or head ache

Tenderness or pain of the jaw bone or gums

Difficulty in opening the mouth

Swelling or redness of the gums around the impacted tooth

Swollen lymph nodes of the neck (seen occasionally) etc.

Complications:

Formation of cysts: Wisdom tooth develops in a sac within the jawbone. This sac can fill with fluid thus forming a cyst that can damage the nerves, jawbone and teeth. This complication requires the removal of bone and tissue.

Gum disease: The difficulty in cleaning the partially emerged wisdom tooth increases the risk of developing inflammatory, painful gum condition called pericoronitis in that area.

Damage to neighboring teeth: In case where the wisdom tooth pushes the second molars it may damage or increase the risk of infection in that particular area. The pressure developed can also cause complications with crowding of the other teeth or may require orthodontic treatment for straightening other teeth.

Tooth decay: Partially impacted teeth will be more prone to tooth decay than other teeth.

Treatment:

No treatment is needed if the impacted tooth is not causing any problems.

Pain relievers helps if the impacted tooth causes any discomfort.

Extracting one’s tooth is one treatment if the impacted tooth cause pain or infects/ interferes with the neighboring teeth.

Before removing the tooth, the patient will be made understand regarding the sedatives and anesthetics that will be used by the dentist or surgeon.

The patient is recommended not to eat at least 6 hours before surgery.

After the surgical treatment the patient may have swelling of jaw and cheeks.

Cast fillings
Cast gold filling is method in dentistry, for restoration of appearance and make the teeth functional.

Cast gold fillings are the dental filling was the practice in vogue for many years and played an important role in the dental fillings. These fillings are used earlier a lot because these were only fillings available for the people those days and many people felt proud to have such type of gold fillings in their mouth but with the invention of latest technologies in dentistry new type of fillings came into into practice.

These fillings are used for inlays, outlays and crowns and are made of gold alloys that is gold mixed with other metals. This filling has many benefits but with a few disadvantages it stood back today and not preferred by most people. Here are the benefits and drawbacks of cast gold fillings.

Do cast fillings benefit patients?

These fillings don’t get fractured, or break. This fillings has been used by many people due its strangeness 40 – 50 years ago.

More durable than any other fillings today – usually lasts 10-15 years and more if maintained properly.

These filling has the capacity to expand according to the teeth structure when they are exposed to cold and hot.

Cast gold fillings have smooth surface where there is no chance of accumulating plaque.

Gold fillings don’t change its shape or they doesn’t flow.

The major benefit of this filling is they don’t corrode over time nor do change color, which is the major drawback of many other fillings.

Gold doesn’t release any kind of toxins and they doesn’t contain mercury.

Apart from these advantages, cast gold fillings have some disadvantages that most of the people have when compared to the other fillings today. Some of the drawbacks are:

Drawbacks

The major drawback is they do not match the color of the teeth of the person who is going to use them. However, this filling can be used in the place where the fillings are not visible.

This filling is more expensive compared to the natural tooth colored fillings today.

For preparing gold fillings, the dentist requires some skills and techniques.

This is not preferred by most of the people.

It may create some shock when this gold fillings are placed beside the silver fillings.

They don’t give your teeth a natural look and people will know that you have dental problems and so you are having the fillings.

This may create sensitivity problems when people eat cold or hot foods.

Dental cast gold filling last for life, besides requiring little maintenance. Therefore, it is a good substitute for other filling materials used in dentistry.

This is a treatment given to the patients having problem of gum recession. Gum recession is a symptom of gum disease. The technique was invented by Jhon Chao, D.D.S. Pinhole is the best alternative to gum grafting.

People who need pinhole treatment:

The persons with the following problems must be given pinhole treatment:

People with gum diseases like gum recession

People who follow wrong brushing methods

Due to the side effects of medications through which periodontal diseases may increase

When there is problem with traditional methods of gum surgery and orthodontic treatments

Instead of gum grafting you can use this as good alternative

People who need healthy and attractive smile on their face

Benefits of pinhole technique:

Best alternative to other gum surgeries

Their is no bleeding or swelling after the surgery

You can get recovered quickly

Many teeth can be treated at once

Corrects the gum recession

Their won’t be a problem of uncomfortable sutures

Long lasting and natural looking

Jhon Chao’s pinhole treatment:
The treatment is painless as only needle is used in the entire treatment. Using this a hole is made on the gum tissue and special instrument is used to loose the gum tissue by expanding it over the gum line. This helps the exposed root structure get covered. For the entire treatment there is no need of sutures, grafts and incisions. Simply adjusting the existing tissue of the patient is enough.

This is entirely different from the traditional method of gum grafting which uses the donor tissue to re-build the gum line. The soft tissue taken from the same person is used in this treatment. Patients feel better after this treatment. This is the way patients get benefited with pinhole technique.

Dental care after treatment:
If patients take proper care after the treatment, it lasts for long time without any side effects. As all dental treatments this may also have some minor complications which can be avoided with proper dental care and dental check up. This treatment is considered as a permanent solution for gum recession or gum diseases.

To avoid damage in the surgical area avoid brushing in that area for few days and don’t brush tooth hard because this may cause pain in the surgical area. Better follow the suggestion given by your dentist for best results after the treatment.

Connection between the teeth and the heart and how teeth effects heart?
If your teeth are healthy, you will have good health and a healthy heart. If you pay attention towards your dental hygiene automatically you will have a good smile on your face which is related to the heart.

Researches say that several gum diseases may lead to heart disease. If this is the case most of the people facing the oral health problem must also have the heart problems as they don’t care for their teeth and health.

Experts also agree with this because, the heart and teeth have the common problem called as inflammation which is related to the gum diseases. And some researchers say that 90% of all the diseases, including heart diseases have the symptoms and dentists also go for the oral cheek up if the person is having the heart problems.

Space maintainer, an device used by dentists or orthodontists made from metal or acrylic. It can either be cemented or be removed from the child’s mouth. Its purpose is to maintain space and allow the permanent tooth to erupt in place. There may be the need of the space maintainers if children lose their teeth at an early age, or have a primary tooth extracted due to dental decay.

In this article, we will discuss the need, maintenance and the types of dental space maintainers.

Need for dental space maintainers

When the child loses his/her teeth in early age.

Its main purpose is to maintain space and allow the permanent tooth to erupt in place.

If the space is not maintained, there is a possibility of shifting of teeth to open space.

In some cases primary tooth may be missing, in order to avoid the coming (permanent) tooth erupt properly in space, space maintainers are required.

Moreover, space maintainers are used to ensure enough room for the permanent tooth.

Types of dental space maintainers
Space maintainers are of two types: fixed and removable

Removable: These space maintainers are similar to the appliance used in orthodontic treatment and are made from acrylic material.

Fixed: There are four different kinds of fixed space maintainers; crown and loop, distal shoe, unilateral and lingual.

Unilateral and crown and loop: This type of space maintainers are placed on the one side of the mouth. The unilateral space maintainer when placed will wrap around the outside of the tooth connecting to a metal loop that holds the space intact. The crown and loop space maintainers are the actual crown covering the tooth and are attached to the loop so as to ensure that there is enough space for erupting tooth.

Distal shoe space maintainer: This type of space maintainer is generally used for un-erupted permanent molar tooth. This is the most complicated maintainer, as the metal is inserted in the gums for keeping the space open from closing. The dentist will also monitor the progress of eruption of permanent molar.

Lingual space maintainer: This maintainers are bilateral in nature and are cemented to the molars connected by a wire. This is usually used for one missing tooth.

Care and maintenance
At first space maintainers may feel unusual. But after a few days you get used to it. For keeping the gum tissues healthy, your child needs to brush their teeth regularly. When there are space maintainers are applied, your child should avoid sticky or hard food and chew gum and candies. This can loosen the band and get easily caught in the wires. See the dentist at regular intervals and get your space maintainer’s position checked, as if they become loose, there is a possibility of swallowing or inhaling through the lungs.

Finally, see to it that your child should not push on the space maintainers using their fingers, which can bend or loosen the wires.

The post Dental Space Maintainers first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Oral Health Problems:

Bottle decay

Thumb sucking

Tongue thrusting

Lip Sucking

Early Tooth Loss

1. Bottle Decay:
Bottle decay is the dental teeth decay caused by the frequent contact of sugary solution or milk with the teeth. It mostly affects the upper front teeth.

Causes:

Unswallowed milk in the mouth during bedtime.

Frequent contact of sugary liquids in mouth

Inadequate fluoride supplements

Prevention:

Avoid giving bottle filled with milk or sugary juices during bed time

Encourage to drink from cup

Clean gums and mouth after feeding

Making healthy eating habit

If untreated bottle decay it causes pain and baby unable to chew or eat in turn crooked teeth in the later ages.

2. Thumb Sucking:
However, it is a healthy habit of sucking thumb or objects in the infant stage. The main cause for thumb sucking is stress.

Prevention:

Sucking of thumb in children is mainly to control stress. This can be prevented by knowing the cause.

Cover the finger with the band aid

Take out the thumb after your child fall a sleep

If all these are not work out, Consult your dentist and dental appliances are applied over the mouth which prevents the baby to stop sucking.

If it continuing after 3 years causes to protrude teeth from their position, misalignment of jaw and difficulty in pronouncing some letters.

3. Tongue Thrusting:
Tongue thrusting is similar to thumb sucking. It is the placement of tongue in the wrong position during swallowing that is, attaching the tongue tip to the teeth.

Causes:

Thumb sucking

Hereditary factors

Difficulty in breathing

Tonsils- Difficulty in swallowing

These are the causes of Tongue thrusting.

Prevention:

Thumb Thrusting can be prevented by placing a night guard during bed time

Oral habit training which re-educates the muscle associated with the swallowing of food or liquids.

If it is untreated, leads to the misalignment of teeth and difficulty in pronouncing some words.

4. Lip Sucking:
Lip sucking is the holding of lower lip between the upper and lower front teeth. If it is uncontrolled leads to infection around the lips and redness around the lips. In some children it is a habit in combination with the thumb sucking or tongue thrusting or alone itself.

Prevention:

Take out the lip from the mouth during sleeping

Consult Orthodontist and ask about the treatment

5. Early Tooth Loss:
Early tooth loss is the loss of premature tooth before the permanent tooth emerges.

Causes:

Tooth decay leads to tooth loss

Lack of enough jaw space

Injury

Treatment:

Visit your dentist for treatment of early tooth loss.

Dentist will place a space maintainer to fill the space created by the tooth loss.

This can be removed once permanent teeth emerge.

These are the problems, which affects the oral hygiene.

The scope of environment is vast. Environment represents the immediate surroundings or society where you live. Here our discussion is confined to both surroundings as well as people and their impact on wellness.

Environmental wellness-What is it?
It pertains to cleanliness of areas in which you live. It is all about how to maintain hygienic conditions to stay from infections.

Causes of environment illness

First thing that comes to mind when you are unhealthy is dirty or uncleaned surroundings. Despite cleaning the house, we may sometimes get affected by diseases and infections.

Improper cleaning of vessels and households – Use of low quality products for washing and cleaning or improper method of washing may not eliminate all microbes that reside on vessels, leads to spread of contamination. Negligence to do things such as emptying trash bin may lead to many microbes get fed on that material and lead to contamination.

Improper use of lids – Most of us forget or do not cover food, vegetables and fruits with lid properly. Flies come and sit in food substances spreading diseases from one to other as they sit even on feces.

Limiting to your house – Apart from environmental wellness of your own, it is necessary that you pay equal attention to surroundings and their hygiene. Even if you maintain hygiene conditions within your house, infection may spread from outside too.

Society or people around – Apart from physical environment, people around you also has influence on your wellness, specially physical and emotional wellness. Make sure that you are in safe hands and have good relations. Healthy relations always promote success.

How to improve environmental wellness?
By making small changes and cultivating good habits, you can attain environmental wellness.

Maintain hygiene conditions – Cleanliness should start from your house and proceed to surroundings. Use high quality products to clean your house. Clean dustbins daily to get rid of flies.

Use sanitizers and disinfectants – Cleaning with water alone may not eliminate germs. Use sanitizers and disinfectants.

Cultivate good habits – Clean your hands before and after eating with sanitizers to make free from germs. Brush your teeth thrice a day, specially after dinner, because some food may retain in walls of mouth and teeth gums which give a chance of attack of some germs that lead to tooth decay, health problems.

Cover foods properly – Improper storing of foods give a way to many flies and mosquitoes to sit and contaminate the food. This is because we take the same food, it lead to food borne diseases as these flies carry microbes that can cause disease.

Avoid unhealthy relations – it is the way you interact with people that affects both physical and mental health. If you have friendly disposition and neglect things that bother you, it will reduce stress and have positive signs on health. If you are mentally healthy automatically you physical health will be fit.

Environmental wellness paves way to overall wellness. It is the footstep for overall well-being.

If you want to replace teeth that are missing, dental implants and bridges are the methods to replace missing teeth. You can go for dental crowns if you have decayed tooth and have a root canal and large filling. Crowns support the weak teeth.

Dental Implants:
Dental implants are the metallic surgical devices used to replace the missing teeth. Dental implants are preferable as they resembles natural teeth. This is suitable for candidates having enough jaw bone density.

What type of materials are used as implants?
Implants are made up of materials like metal (titanium, vitallium), ceramic, polymeric or carbon compounds.

How implants are placed?
First, the dentist examines the missing tooth area and checks whether you are suitable for implants. Local anesthesia is given to anesthetize the area. An incision is made where an implant is to be placed and gum tissue is pulled back. Then, a serial drilling is done to expand the area and the implant is placed and a screw is placed and gum tissue pulled back to cover the implant. Finally, a healing abutment is placed to protect the implant.

Bridges
Candidate with one or more missing teeth can be replaced with dental bridges. Dental bridges fill the gap created by the missing teeth and by getting attached to the adjacent teeth.

What materials are used in dental bridges?
Materials used in dental bridges are porcelain, resin bonded are used for filling gap between the teeth.

How bridges are placed?
The Bridges fill the gap between the teeth created by the missing teeth. It fills the gap by a filling material called pontic. It is attached to the crown. The adjacent teeth gives support to the bridge called abutment.

Dental crowns
Dental crowns are cap like structures that protect the decayed tooth. It is placed on the top of the a repaired tooth, large filling or implant and resembles natural teeth.

In which cases are dental crowns placed?
Dental crowns are placed in the following

To cover an implant.

To protect the decayed tooth

To hold dental bridges

To cover the discolored tooth

To cover teeth had root canal

What materials used in crowns?
Porcelain, ceramic, gold and acrylic materials are used for preparing crowns.

How dental crowns are placed?

Dental crowns are the caps that are placed on the top of the tooth to cover it.

Initially local anesthesia is given to anesthetize the area.

Filling or implant is placed on the missing tooth or decayed tooth is prepared for placing crown.

Then dentist takes impressions of teeth and send to lab to prepare crown.

Once the crown is prepared, the dentist places the crown on the top of the tooth and matches with the remaining teeth color.

If the color of the cap matches with the remaining teeth, it is cemented to fix permanently.

This cap looks similar to natural teeth.

Before any surgery, anesthesia is given to reduce the sensitivity to pain. Administration of anesthesia produces some discomfort to patients. To avoid the discomfort, advanced methods of anesthesia in dental surgeries have come into existence.

In this article we will discuss about the advanced methods of anesthesia, how it works and its advantages.

Computer generated anesthesia: This is one of the methods. Normally pain at the time of injection is mainly due to the pressure created by the liquid on the nerves. These technique reduces the pain by inducing the anesthesia slowly. It is a device which contains two parts. One is a computer and another is a pen like device connected to the computer.

How it works?

Initially a topical local anesthesia is given at the site to numb the area. Then a pen like device is placed at the site of injection and it connects to the computer with a tube and flow of anesthesia is controlled on the computer. This takes one minute to anesthetize the area.

Advantages:

No pain during induction of anesthesia

Accurate amounts of anesthesia can be delivered

Easy to handle

Vibrajets: Vibrajets are battery operated device attached to the needle. This is used to deliver local anesthesia without any pain. It is one of the advanced methods to deliver anesthesia without inducing pain.

How it works?

A battery attached to the needle produces slight vibrations during delivering of anesthesia. This stimulates the nerve ending and blocks the impulses to reach the brain.

Advantages:

No pain while inducing anesthesia

Onset of action is very fast.

Electronic dental anesthesia: Electronic dental anesthesia consist of a battery powered device connected to a control unit. This produces low voltage current that blocks the nerves to reach the pain signals to brain.

How it works?

In this method two small pieces of sponges are placed at the site of surgery. These sponges connects to the control box where patient can control the level of anesthesia. In this no anesthesia is used to anesthetize the area. The low voltage produced by the battery, blocks the nerve to transmit impulses to brain.

Advantages:

Safe and reliable

No anesthetic agent is used

No allergic reactions

Level of anesthesia can be controlled

Most of the dentists prefer the above mentioned anesthesia because they are much better than the traditional ones.

As placing dental Implant requires a surgical process, proper planning and preparations prior surgery are essential for efficient, accurate and successful installation. This includes certain clinical examinations, treatment plan and some instructions to patients before surgery, thus preparing for the Implant procedure.

Preparations prior dental implant surgery
After the discussion of dental implant treatment, the dentist will examine your mouth thoroughly and asks you to take certain radiographs of your jaw for assessing the jaw condition, thus allowing the dentist to plan the placement of implants.

Following preparations are done prior dental implant surgery

1) Preoperative examinations

Blood Test
Immune diseases such as diabetes, hypertension may be risky factors in dental implants surgery. So any disease that interfere with dental implant surgery are found, treating it should be the first priority.

Mouth Examination
Mouth is thoroughly examined by the dentist for determining the size of the jaw for implants to be placed. Any gum disease, tooth cavities or biting anomalies should be treated before implant surgery.

X-rays
Sufficiency of bone height and thickness is needed for implants to be placed. X-ray examination is done for confirming bone volume and tooth shape.

CT scan
Computed tomography (CT) is done for verifying size, form and the location of each organ. Treatment plan for dental implant surgery is done based on the results from these examinations.

2) Treatment Plan
After thorough investigations, treatment plan is made. This includes the number of implants you need, type of implants to be used and condition of jawbone. The planning process involves various specialists from dental field who have specialization of oral maxillofacial surgeries.

3) Instructions to Patients Prior Surgery

Tell the dentist about your current medical conditions.

If smoking or drinking, quit. As this may actually lead to failure of dental implant surgery.

Moreover, your health condition should be good and maintained, as in case of cold, fever etc., the surgery needs to be prolonged.

Follow the treatment plan

Eating and drinking must be avoided six hours before dental implant procedure.

Ask your friend or family member to come along with you, as you will not be allowed to drive for at least 24 hours following implant surgery.

Oral surgery involves cutting of gum tissues, removing of tooth/teeth, gum surgeries and getting dental implants. Care after oral surgery is very important to minimize pain, swelling and discomfort felt. It is simply done by following instructions carefully. This article contains information on post operative care for oral surgery.

Care after oral surgery
Proper care after oral surgery should be taken in order to heal your mouth easily and quickly.

When you have pain
Before performing surgery in your mouth, you are given local anesthesia to numb the area where surgery has to be done. Numbness of mouth goes off later after surgery. Experiencing pain is normal and it can last 24-48 hrs after the surgery. Discomfort and soreness can last for 3-5 days. Pain and discomfort felt differs from person to person.

What to be done: Your oral surgeon prescribes some medicines to be taken. Make sure that you mention about any other medicines you are taking. Take medicines regularly as prescribed by the surgeon. Do not miss out any medicine that can make your healing process complex and painful.

What not to do: Remember not to take more medicines than advised. Make sure that you don’t drive and operate machine when taking medications especially when taking narcotic medicines. As these medicines cause drowsiness.

When you have bleeding
You are likely to bleed for the first few hours of oral surgery. Saliva and blood mixes together, which makes you feel that you are bleeding more than you really do. See for four hours, if it is still bleeding, call your oral surgeon.

What to be done: Your oral surgeon will keep a gauze pad over the wound for cutting down the amount of blood. No matter how soggy it becomes, this gauze pad should be kept at the same place for an hour or more. Keep pressure constantly on the pad by keeping your mouth closed firmly. After an hour, check whether it is still bleeding, if so remove the gauze pad and put another one. Continue to put pressure on that gauze pad. It is better to keep your head raised. This will slow down flow of blood, thus heals faster. If bleeding continues more than four hours, contact your dentist.

What not to do: See to it that you don’t rinse your mouth in the first 24 hours after surgery. Avoid hot liquids, if you are drinking soup let it cool and have it. This is because flow of blood will increase if you take hot food and drinks and can cause bleeding again.

When you have swelling
There may be swelling in the first 24 hours after surgery and can last for a week. Swelling gets reduced and takes time to disappear fully.

What to be done: First few days after surgery, apply cold compress on the swollen area. Cold compress can be made by putting some ice cubes in the towel and wrapping it. Apply continuously with a gap 10-15 minutes. This can help in reducing swelling with comfort.

What not to be done: Remember not to apply heat on the swollen area in first 24 hours after surgery. This can make your swelling worse.

Make sure take care of these points to get quick relief after surgery.

The post Care after Oral Surgeries first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Dental implants are important procedure to improve the functionality of teeth, etc. Dental implants have certain advantages and disadvantages. This article discusses them briefly.

Advantages
Following are six advantages of dental implants.

1. Better function of mouth
Functioning of implanted tooth is similar to your natural teeth. Jaws and teeth work as if they are normal. You can eat hard foods as you like. Your teeth and jaw can chew and bite food in a better way than before.

2. Can eat all types of food
If you have missing teeth, you are unable to eat certain foods because chewing and biting becomes difficult. With the help of implanted tooth, you can eat all types of food including hard food.

3. Improved oral hygiene
Having dental implants, it is easier to clean the teeth by brushing and flossing as is the case with with natural teeth. There is no risk of implanted tooth getting damaged as it is in case of dentures and bridges.

4. Appearance of face improves
With loss of tooth or teeth, muscles of face sag and it gives an aging look. Dental implants produce new bone tissue as a result of making the jaw bone strong and thick, which leads to better functionality of facial muscles. Dental implants give a younger look in terms of appearance.

5. Durable
Implanted tooth last longer. The implants last for years or even for a lifetime if you take care of them properly.

6. Comfortable and is convenient
The impression implanted teeth is same as with the natural tooth. These implants give comfort in terms of eating, caring, etc. People around you may not differentiate between natural and implanted tooth.

Dental implants are convenient as you need not worry about the tooth getting loose, changing position or falling from your mouth. There is no problem of removing and replacing as done in case of dentures.

Disadvantages
There are three disadvantages of dental implants.

1. Implants are costly
Dental implants involve huge expenses. They are more expensive when compared to other treatments such as dentures or bridges.

2. Lengthy procedure
Dental implants are time-consuming as there are two surgeries, which need to heel before going to place the implants. You need at least three months for the surgeries to heal. Thus, the whole procedure might last up to 6-9 months depending on the condition of jaw.

3. Involves surgeries
A thought of surgery is scary for some people. As it is a surgical process, it involves bleeding, swelling, pain, etc. It is because this reason that few people opt for dental implants.

Conclusion
As there are advantages of implanted teeth, so are disadvantages too. If you are opting for dental implants, make sure to discuss with the dentist the pros and cons before you undergo the procedure.

The post Advantages and Disadvantages of Dental Implants first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Monitoring equipment are used to monitor health condition of the patients from time to time. It is very essential in cases of heart patients, diabetic patients and also others having serious health issues.

Monitoring is the second stage of disease treatment. It is the continuous observation of a patients health. They can be equipment, tests performed and also reagents or markers used.

Some of the monitoring equipment include:
Cardiac monitors – They are used for checking the heart patients heart beat, patients who have undergone bypass surgeries, etc. It will continuously create a graph showing heart beat known as cardiogram. It also checks whether there is increase or decrease in blood pressure.

Hemodynamic monitors – They are used to check blood pressure, blood flow from heart to different organs and used for hypertension patients.

Respiratory monitors – They are used to assess the condition of respiratory system, especially lungs. They include:

Pulse oximetry – It is used to check the levels of oxygen supply to lungs. If sufficient amount is not supplied, it leads to suffocation.

Capnography – They are used to monitor co2 levels. Excess co2 is harmful, reduces oxygen supply, and creates breathing problems.

Monitors used for nerve related conditions – ECG monitors are the equipment used in this context. Patients suffering from nerve disorders are monitored with these equipment. They are used to monitor any clot formations in the brain, whether tumors are eliminated or formed even after undergoing surgeries.

Blood glucose monitors – Used to check levels of insulin hormones in case of diabetic patients to regulate normal glucose levels.

Body temperature monitors – Thermometers to check whether the patient is having fever.

Why to use monitors
Name itself indicates its importance, a keen observation of health condition is required continuously while treatment is in process.

For example, if a heart patient has undergone surgery, his condition has to be reported time to time to doctors to check any alterations took place leading to another health issue.

They not only monitor but also tell about the level of risk, for instance say diabetic patients have to undergo regular check up of their sugar levels , otherwise it leads to kidney failures.

Child birth monitors are also available in the market which will say about fetus development, condition of the baby inside, etc.

Monitors help in treating a health related problem effectively by providing status of the health condition. Monitors are used by many multi-speciality hospitals, and are also suggested to some patients who prefer to have treatment at home.
Co enzyme Q10 is naturally fat soluble vitamin and helps convert food into energy. It can be gathered in the heart, liver, pancreas and kidneys and also some of its amount is present in the lungs. This vitamin is essential for normal functioning of cells and can be used to treat in many diseases.

Since CoQ10 is a antioxidant, it fights against the free radicals that are present in the body that can cause damage to cells and DNA. Damage to DNA can cause cancer. This vitamin Q is essential for the normal functioning of cell.

Co enzyme Q-10 is used for treating heart and blood vessel conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chest pain, high blood pressure, and heart problems linked to certain cancer drugs, used for treating diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, gum disease (both taken by mouth and applied directly to the gums), breast cancer, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, muscular dystrophy, increasing exercise tolerance, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), obesity, and Lyme disease.

Co-enzyme Q-10 will also aids in treating hair loss related to taking warfarin, a medication used to slow blood clotting.

Co enzyme Q-10 can help increase energy because it produces ATP, a molecule in body cells that functions like a rechargeable battery in the transfer of energy. Co enzyme Q-10 been tried for treating inherited or acquired disorders that limit energy production in the cells of the body and for improving exercise performance.

It is also used for strengthening the immune systems of people with HIV/AIDS, male infertility, migraine headache, and counteracting muscle pain sometimes caused by a group of cholesterol-lowering medications called “statins.”

Co enzyme Q10 levels decrease with age or as the individual gets older.

Dental issues are common among people. Dental problems generally occur due to negligence of oral hygiene. In some cases, dental health issues are symptoms of other diseases. Ignoring your oral health may result in gum diseases and tooth decay.

One of the major dental conditions is tooth sensitivity, which affects half of the population in 20-50 years age group across the world. Tooth sensitivity is preventable and can be cured when it occurs if responded with immediate treatment from qualified dentists. Reading this article, you will get to know what dental sensitivity is, and the available treatment for it.

Dental sensitivity
Dental sensitivity or sensitivity in teeth is a dental condition in which you feel intense pain in teeth while taking cool or hot foods.

Teeth contain several tiny channels that are not visible to human eye. These channels run from base to top of the teeth and are covered by a material called enamel. The enamel covers the surface of teeth and protects blood capillaries from being exposed to outer environment. Usually the enamel is lost due to brushing too hard or having regular acidic diet (a lot of lemon, etc.).

When food comes in contact with blood capillaries through entering channels, it causes irritation and pain in the teeth. When you get a painful sensation in teeth while taking hot and cold foods, it indicates that you are suffering from teeth sensitivity.

Ways to treat dental sensitivity
Dental sensitivity can be easily cured. Dentists suggest to use desensitizing toothpastes. These toothpastes help close channels that are open due to erosion of enamel coating. While purchasing a desensitizing toothpaste, look for recommendation of American Dental Association (ADA) for safety. When the desensitizing toothpaste does not lower teeth sensitivity, dentists recommend filling channels that are open.

If the dental sensitivity is due to loss of gum tissue, dentists recommend for a surgical procedure – gum graft. In this procedure, part of gum tissue is cut and the cut out portion is used to seal the root where gum tissue has been lost. If the pain is intolerable (hyper-sensitivity), dentists recommend root canal treatment to reduce pain.

Tooth sensitivity is more common in women than in men. It is common in those suffering from gum problems, people having undergone dental bleaching procedures and those brushing teeth too hard.

Do not underestimate oral health. To keep your oral health in good condition, you need to educate yourself on oral hygiene, brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush twice a day and avoid foods of acidic nature to avoid eroding of the enamel.

The post Dental Sensitivity – Ways to Treat first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Many people think brushing teeth is enough to remove bacteria, plaque, and food particles from overall tooth surface. But it is false because the toothbrush can’t reach the areas between the teeth. Flossing is therefore, very important to remove harmful bacteria, plaque in between your teeth.
The plaque that forms on your teeth is invisible, especially in between teeth. It is a type of growing colony for living food debris, bacteria and saliva. When the plaque in between teeth or above or below gum-line is not removed, it gets hardened and then turns into tartar that leads to tooth decay. First it will inflame and irritate the gums and then slowly destroys the bone.

Also, the bacteria which are present in between the teeth or on the teeth produce acids or toxins by which the teeth get cavities, which inflame and irritate your gums. This situation is the beginning stage of periodontal diseases.

There are different types of dental floss available in the market including dental tape, regular floss and super floss, also the floss holders are available in plastic as well as in metal, in a shape of bow that makes flossing very manageable.

Properly Flossing:
For proper flossing, first you need to take 30 to 40 cm or 12 to 15 or 16 inches of dental floss. Wrap it around your middle finger, by leaving about the two inches of floss in between the hands.

Then hold the floss between the forefinger and thumb of your each hand. When you start using the floss it should be taut, gently guide the floss to the point between the teeth. When the floss is in between the teeth, you have to curve the floss tightly against on one tooth surface and then rub it in up and down direction for few times. Here, the each stroke should be from gum underline to the point between the teeth. It should be repeated for surface of each tooth between all the teeth.

If you feel difficult in holding the conventional floss, get floss holders as they are very easy to use. If you don’t have idea on how to floss, but you are trying to floss then the sharp downward thrust of the floss may damage your gum which leads to bleeding of gums. Be careful while flossing your teeth not to cut your gums with the floss. If you don’t know how to floss properly, it is better to visit your nearest dentist; they will show how to floss properly and ask which floss is better to you and choose the best suitable floss.

By flossing your teeth, the plaque, dental debris and food particles are removed from the space between the teeth, which helps prevent the bad breath, tooth decay and periodontal or gum diseases.

The post Importance of Using Dental Floss first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

We all know that regular practicing of Yoga offers many health benefits but no one has enough time to do Yoga because people think, to do Yoga, they need to spend lot of time. And somebody thinks that suddenly stopping of doing Yoga can give negative effects on health. But this is not the truth. If you set and spend few minutes daily in the morning for doing Yoga, you will notice a huge difference in your day. If you want, however, a good health then obviously your mind should be pleasant and relaxed. When you reduce the stress, you automatically get a peaceful mind.

We all know that Yoga contains many postures which make the body physically and mentally fit. Below are some of the Yoga poses or postures which you can complete in just 5 to 6 minutes in morning.

In the first minute: Find a best place to start the morning session of Yoga. You sit with your legs crossed comfortably, or in an easier pose, with your knees out to your sides and one foot resting in front of the opposite shin. At the same time, pull in your belly, stretch your spine upward and relax your shoulders down. Then, set an intention for that day by closing your eyes and observing your breath.

In the second minute, do some simple stretches in your body to wake up your spine and connect to your breath. Then, stand comfortably, with your feet parallel, hip width-apart. Inhale and raise your arms overhead. Exhale and bend forward, reaching for the floor. Inhale and stretch your spine forward and exhale and bend forward. Again inhale and raise your arms. Like this continue the sequence.

In the third minute, stretch your arms and shoulders, legs, spine, hips downward facing like dog.

In the fourth minute, build your core muscles in boat pose to strengthen. Sit down with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Lift your body parts or shins so that they are parallel with the floor and lean back slightly. And hold for up to minute.

In the fifth minute, relax your body by just laying on your back facing towards the ceiling.

The above are some of the Yoga poses you can do in a single minute which helps you to stay healthy.

The post Get to Know the Quick Yoga Poses for the Mornings first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Vitamin B15, also known as Pangamic acid (A derivative of the amino acid glycine (Pangamic acid is dim ethyl glycine)) is a water-soluble vitamin. Water-soluble means it is easily gets dissolved in water and is carried through blood stream and is excreted through urine daily. So, it is necessary to take daily but its essential requirement in the diet has not yet been proven because there is a debate going on this vitamin. The people who are deficient in this vitamin are not exhibiting any symptoms.

Research suggests that Vitamin B15 may aid in lowering the cholesterol levels in blood and helps in protein synthesis. This Vitamin has also been used to treat cancer, schizophrenia and heart disease.

Vitamin B15 has antioxidant features that promote immune system, increases cell life, combats fatigue, lower cholesterol levels in the blood and helps regulate hormones but it not readily available in the United States because FDA removed the vitamin B15 products in their market.

Vitamin B15 is found in a wide variety of food sources including whole grains such as brown rice, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, apricot seeds and sesame seeds. It is also found in brewer’s yeast, beef’s blood. Direct sunlight and water can reduce the level of potency and availability in these items. Good sources of vitamin B15 are whole grain cereals, rice bran, oats, organ meats and eggs.

Before taking pangamic acid supplements, make sure that you consult your physician regarding medical conditions or drugs you are taking because research is still going on this vitamin B15 whether it is an essential nutrient for the human body or not.

The post Food Sources of Pangamic Acid first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Vitamin B15 is still a controversial “vitamin” because it has not yet been proven shown to be essential in the diet, and it does not exhibit any symptoms or deficiency diseases in the absence of vitamin B15 in the diet.

The Soviet Union and the European countries has been the most enthusiastic about Pangamic acid because they are feeling that it is a very important nutrient in treating a physiological actions that can treat a multitude of symptoms and diseases. Their scientists have shown that Pangamic supplementation can reduce the build up of lactic acid in sportsmen and thereby lessen muscle fatigue and increase endurance. It is used regularly in these countries for treating various problems such as alcoholism and drug addiction, mental problems such as those of aging and senility, minimal brain damage in children, autism, and schizophrenia, heart disease and high blood pressure, diabetes, skin diseases, liver disease, and chemical poisonings.

The FDA has banned Pangamic acid products from the US markets. So, this vitamin B15 is not available in America but their people use Dimethylglycine (DMG) as a substitute to increase Pangamic acid production in the body.

You do not experience any toxicity symptoms of vitamin B15 in your body even at higher amounts of 50 to 100 mg thrice a day because this will not exhibit any symptoms showing deficiency. Suppose if it exhibits some symptoms, it lasts for only few days. The symptom can be mild nausea if you take pangamates at higher levels.

There is limited information about deficiencies of Pangamic acid because research is still going on. Though some diminished circulatory and oxygenation functions are possible if there is an absence of vitamin B15 in your diet that is decreased cell respiration—that is, decreased oxygen use by cells—may influence many other cellular functions which may lead to effects on the heart.

The post Toxicity Symptoms of Vitamin B15 first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Teeth fillings are used to treat a cavity. The dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill the area where the cavity once lived. The function of filling is to repair cracked or broken teeth and the teeth that are worn out due to misuse. The dentist will first numb the area around the teeth that is to be filled with a local anesthetic. Next the decayed area is removed by a drill or using an air abrasion instrument or laser. The dentist will test the area to make sure that the decay has been removed. The dentist will prepare a space for filling in the tooth by cleaning the cavity and bacteria. Finally the dentist will prepare a composite material to fill the space, remove the excess material and polish the final restoration.

Composite resin filling:
It is made from a mixture of powdered glass and plastic resin which can resemble similar to a natural tooth. It can be used for filling small and large areas especially for the front or visible parts of teeth.

Amalgam:
It is a metallic filling material made up of a mixture of mercury and powdered alloy materials such as silver, tin, zinc and copper. Amalgam fillings are cheapest and they have a silver coloring. This is a metal which expands and contracts with hot, cold. They are usually filled in the back chewing teeth.

Glass Ionomer cement:
This type of filling is a mixture of glass called fluoroaluminosilicate and organic acid. It is used for filling in front teeth, around the neck of teeth and roots. It is suitable for people with lot of decay in the part of the tooth that extends below the gum.

Cast Gold:
This filling is made from gold mixed with other metals. It is expensive than other fillings and doesn’t corrode. It can be used for filling inlays, onlays and crowns.

Ceramics:
It is commonly made of porcelain and costs as much as gold or even more. They are tooth colored and resistant to staining.

A good quality and suitable dental filling material used for filling the decayed tooth will ensure less dental problems in future.

The post What are the Different Types of Dental Filling Materials first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Smoking Cigarette, is one of the most common habit many of the people globally have. Its easy availability and less cost made it popular across the world. Starting from the children to older adults many people got addicted to it like anything. Till now smoking is the most abused form of using tobacco and the number of people getting used to this dreadful habit are increasing in number every day. But in Australia the scenario is different, says the latest reports.

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the number of Australians smoking tobacco has decreased, but supplementing this decreased use was the rise in use of illegal drug. They surveyed nearly 26,000 people and found that the proportion of daily tobacco smokers aged over 14 has dropped to 15%. The people aged between 20s to 40s quit smoking since 2007.

They have also conducted a survey on the illicit use and found that the percentage of people who reported using an illicit drug has increased to 14.7% since 2007 till date. Even though the increase is small it includes, cannabis, marijuana, prescription medicines, cocaine and non hallucinogens.

However, there is a decline in the ecstasy use from about 3.5% to 3%. But the alcohol use is still at high risk since one in five people are having more than two standard drinks per day.

Even though the drop in the percentages of people smoking is some what less, there is a rise in the other dreadful substance, drugs. It is not clear whether people are quitting bad things or adopting new bad habits.

The post Control in Smoking Rates, Increase in Drug Abuse : Study first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Everyday one or the other story will be in light about the marijuana possession and smuggling. The more the cops are alert, the higher the cases they are able to book everyday. It is shocking to imagine the situation when all the seized pot enters the market and how it will spoil the healths of many people.

Another such incident happened in the San Ysidro border, where the US customs and the Border Protection arrested a 24 year old US citizen and seized 1150 pounds of marijuana which was hidden inside the furniture.

The officials are estimating that the market value of the seized marijuana is nearly $700,000. They also seized the furniture in which the pot was hidden for smuggling which includes a sofa, chair, china cabinet and bedroom furniture in which 126 packets were hidden. The officers also seized the truck which carried all the furniture.

The same day the sailors from the amphibious transport dock ship New Orleans also recovered
bundles of marijuana (nearly 1,800 pounds of marijuana) which is floating on the coast of San Diego. The Coast guards gave a call to the San Diego based ship which was on training exercise, about the smugglers who were dumping bundles overboard. Finally the Mexican navy arrested several men who are involved in this trafficking.

Not only this, there are many cases which are being found every day related to marijuana possession and trafficking. People involve in huge drug rackets intentionally drag many innocent people to sell these drugs, by offering them huge amount of money. Strict laws should be implemented even for small drug possessions, which help in controlling the situation.

The post US Customs Found 1,150 pounds of Marijuana Hidden Inside Furniture first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, plays a major role in enhancing lightening in skin tone and suppleness. Vitamin C is responsible for production of melanin that results in brighter and lighter skin. Melanin is a pigment that imparts a dark color to the skin. Vitamin C is also required for synthesis of collagen which declines significantly as the skin ages. Collagen helps in keeping the skin strong. Eating foods that are rich in Vitamin C such as citrus fruits and juices, strawberries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and green peas will provide a good skin color.

Vitamin A is essential for maintaining a strong and healthy skin. If you feel that your skin is not tight enough, it is due to lack of Vitamin A. The skin is composed of Retinol which is Vitamin A. By eating food that is rich in Vitamin A will help to minimize the effects of sun damage caused to the skin. The foods rich in Vitamin A include milk, oysters, and egg yolks.

It is essential in minimizing exposure of your skin to sunlight and pollution. UVA/UVB rays are harmful to the skin and may slowdown the repair of the damaged skin cells. There are other ways to protect the skin from getting damaged such as applying sunscreen during the exposure of sunlight, wearing a mask at polluted areas, exercising daily and drinking plenty of water will whiten your skin and improve skin complexion.

The post Essential Vitamins for Whitening of Skin first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

When a tooth is lost due to the injuries or is affected by diseases caused by bacteria, gaps or missing tooth occurs. The gaps so formed between the teeth will make the affected person to discomfort while speaking, chewing and negative expressions. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse. So, the dentist replaces or restores the tooth in the areas where tooth is lost by using some dental fillings. Before going to start filling in the decayed portion of the teeth, dentist numbs the area around the tooth and cleans the tooth surface by removing decayed material caused by bacteria with respective dental solutions. Then, an instrument is used for drying the affected area of the patient mouth in order to remove the bacteria. Then dentist checks the affected part by performing some test whether all the decay has been removed or not. Once the affected part becomes clean, the dentist prepares the necessary fillings in order to fill the affected portion to make the patients teeth to function normally. The dentist puts some liner on the tooth root to protect the nerve. Then he places tooth which matches the original one. These materials are applied in the layers to look as the original tooth. Then blue light is used for hardening each layer applied. After completing the layering process, dentist removes the excess material that comes out while applying. Then the dentist shapes the material according to the desired outcome and then polishes for final restoration.

These fillings can be done by using different materials available based on the location and extent of the decay, cost of material, dentist recommendation etc,. Materials such as gold, porcelain, silver amalgam, or tooth-colored, plastic and glass materials called composite resin fillings can be used to store the tooth and it prevents further tooth decay.

The post Want to Know About Dental Filling? first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.
