Add to this a staggering 179 billion mobile apps that get downloaded per year. These numbers help us in gauging the extensive use of wearable device apps in our day to day lives.

Can you think of a life without mobile apps? Not any more, even though they were not a part of your life even a decade back. Mobile development is the most actively growing sector in the digital space. This market is primarily dominated by some apps that we cannot think of living without in our daily lives. These primarily include:

• Google apps (such as Gmail, Maps)
• Social media apps (such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter, YouTube)
• Gaming apps (such as angry birds, temple run, candy crush, Pokemon GO).

Big business houses, such as Bank of America, Amazon, and Walmart are using mobile-based apps for various purposes, including direct marketing, improving customer engagement, and so on. This field is highly driven by advancements in techniques, thereby calling business owners to have a long standing vision of how their business should shape up across the next few years.

Certain trends can be earmarked as the determinants of the growth and future of this app development sector. Let us look at those trends in a nutshell.

Wearable Devices
The first on the trendsetters’ list, apart from augmented reality, is wearable devices. According to IDS, a staggering 101.9 million wearable devices were shipped in 2016, which is 29% more than the 79 million sold in 2015. The transition from a basic wearable to smart wearables is evident in the trend of usage when it comes to Microsoft’s Hololens and Apple Watch. This upcoming change is reflective of the importance of apps in our lives and the changing trends in the apps scenario.

That day is not too far away, when smartphones would be the new hub of a network of personal area, which would consist of wearable gadgets, such as smart jewelry, healthcare sensors, display devices like Google Glass, a whole lot of sensors attached to shoes and clothes. This is the future of digital apps. These wearable gadgets would change the way the world would perceive gadgets and apps. These gadgets would be fully equipped to communicate with mobile apps to deliver information in unique ways, enable a whole range of services and products in sectors, such as fitness, fashion, sports, healthcare, hobbies – to name a few. Wearable devices, when paired with smartphones, would be in a position to influence the next gen mobile app development strategy.

Internet of Things
The internet of things and mobile connected smart objects are sure to leave a mark as a part of the app development trends. Several hundreds of smart objects, such as domestic appliances, medical devices, LED bulbs, sports equipment, toys, controllable power sockets, and others would be a part of the internet of things, and would be in a position to communicate via an app on a tablet or a smartphone. These smartphones would act as remote controls that would display and analyze information, and interface with social networks to monitor those things that could be posted onto social media.

Conclusion
Mobile devices have become an integral part of our lives these days. It’s extremely important to be aware of the upcoming trends of mobile devices to ensure that you can plan their best uses accordingly.

The post Wearable Devices and IoT – The Major App Development Trends first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

Electronic industry has been evolving constantly over the years and the recent revolutionary changes has transformed the automobile domain.

The recent automobiles have become very safe compared to their traditional counterparts. The automobiles in the market today comes loaded with extensive safety features. These systems can be in particular, of great help to senior citizens who develop many shortcomings in their driving skills due to their aging.

Safety features
Manufacturers have been working constantly in the direction for making driving more secure and safe. In the process, they have come up with many technologies that ensures the same.

Adaptive high beam : Adaptive high beam technology is used for controlling the intensity of high beams in cases when there is enough light on the road or while taking a turn. This saves the other driver round the curve from getting blind suddenly due to high beam of the vehicle leading to a mishap.

Night vision and pedestrian technology : Recently, many automobile manufacturers have come up with vehicles equipped with enhanced night vision and pedestrian detection technology. This can be of great help to aged people facing vision impairment problem. They can see better in the dark and the technology also detects pedestrians crossing the roads. Initially the system only alerts the driver but in extreme cases, it can apply brakes automatically. Additionally, nowadays vehicles come equipped with V2I technology that replicates the traffic signs or signals on dashboards or windscreens so that they can identify them clearly.

Adaptive cruise control and lane keeping : This feature is of particular help to aged people who has lost their muscle strength over time. Adaptive cruise control automatically modulates the speed of the vehicle in a way that it keeps up with the vehicle in front it and avoids collision. Auto lane keeping feature alerts the driver in case of lane changing and in cases when lane is not visible, it can also project the lane and take corrective actions in some models.

Anti collision systems : Anti collision systems in car came as boon for person of any age group but it is of significant help to old age who do not posses enough muscle reflex capabilities to take actions in fraction of seconds. Anti collision systems alarms the driver of any obstacles in the direction of motion and in extreme cases apply brakes automatically to avert an accident.

GPS and auto emergency calling feature : The vehicles that are driven by old age people should be equipped with GPS and emergency calling feature that can pinpoint the location of the car in case of an accident and dial emergency number immediately.

The advent of new safety systems in cars is an outcome of the technological advancement in the field of electronics. The vehicles have become more safe than they were earlier. These safety features are of considerable help to senior citizens who lack physical strength and have deteriorated driving skills. Hence these features can save the lives of old age drivers and others on road and also save a lot of property.

The post Car Safety Technologies for Senior Drivers first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.

What is enterprise networking?
Enterprise networking or network in an enterprise is a group of electronic devices that belong to the enterprise. The devices include computers, telephones, printers, scanners, etc., that are connected as one network.

Objective
The main objective of enterprise networking is to enable communication, and enabling users within the network to access to data that is stored in different devices of the network.

Single, LAN and WAN
Depending on needs of the organization, enterprise network can be a single network within an organization or a group of LAN or WAN networks.

Local Area Network (LAN) – A LAN is a group of devices that belong to the same geographic area, and are connected in a network. For example, a network of computers within the same room or same building or adjacent building.

Wide Area Network (WAN) – A WAN is a group of devices that belong to different geographic areas and are connected in a network. For example, connecting the main office of a business in one city to its branch offices in another city.

Things businesses need to consider
Enterprise network as a whole consists of very sensitive data of the business. The network should be secured properly in order to secure this critical information.

Enterprise network must be monitored constantly and disconnect the isolated, unwanted or inactive users in order to speed up the operations running in the network and increase the performance of the network.

Make sure that the enterprise network you choose has minimal or no limitations in connecting devices in different environments. It should be able to connect devices or computers that belong to different environments (manufactures, operating systems, etc.).

For example, in a business, enterprise network should enable connection among desktops, laptops, mainframe systems, smartphones, IP phones and computers run by operating systems such as Windows, Mac, etc., HP printer, Samsung monitors, etc.

Parts of an enterprise network
Any enterprise network generally comprises the following electronic devices.
Internet – Internet connection that an organization gets is by leased lines or broadband connection or 3G, etc.

Router – Routers act as bridges between your organization’s network and the Internet connection.

Unified Threat Management (UTM)/Firewall – UTM is a hardware appliance or a kind of software that provide security to end points or network in an organization. Example of UTM are anti-virus, anti-spam, IP filtering, content filtering, firewalls, etc.

Switches – There are three types of switches. They are core switches, distribution switches and edge switches. The core switch is the center of enterprise network. It connects to various devices of the organization using edge switches and distribution switches.

NAS (Network Area Storage) device – NAS is a location where a bulk of data is stored and any server or system of the network can access them whenever required.

Wireless access points – Wireless access points are the places that contain built-in radios, and provide signals to the devices, that have built-in adapters.

Wireless controller – In an organization, there are many wireless access points, where all the devices can access wi-fi. The device that manages all these wireless access points is called a wireless controller.

IP Telephony server – The IP telephony server provides services to all the phones connected in the enterprise network.

Network end points (Devices) – Network end points are PCs, laptops, smartphones, etc. that are connected to network through switches or wireless access points in an organization.

Enterprise network finds wide application in businesses and improves their productivity. It is cost effective and ideal for small and mid-sized businesses.

Automakers and gadget providers are working hard to insert the applications of i phone and smart phones to bring in more high tech electronics in to automobiles.

Audi is going to use their smart phones which helps the drivers to check out their car’s fuel mileage and other performance data like miles per gallon over the course of a trip, emissions and engine revolutions. In the Audi car, a smart phone offers a application known as Wow which is used in i phone, another highly useful tool provided by the makers. This system works by plugging an I Phone into the car’s OBD-II port in the dashboard, the plug in communicates with the car’s engine computer. Chrysler is using smart phones to replace a car’s bulky paper owner’s manual.

Smart phones have many advantages like portability which allows the motorists to know about their vehicle when they are away from the vehicle. Web based applications are easier to keep up to date than the electronic components in the car. Another feature of the Smart phone in GM cars is that the owners can lock or start their vehicle with their smart phone, and even remotely blink the headlights or honk the horn to find a car in a crowded lot.

Cobra Electronics, Chicago based manufacturer of radar detectors, launched a system that uses a driver’s I Phone as the detector display and it tells a motorist when it picks up signals from police speed radar guns, it also warns of red-light cameras by using the I Phone’s GPS capability, and is priced at $169.95.

As per a recent report by the business ISP Easynet Connect, SMEs are showing increase in enthusiasm for cloud-based IT services. Same report in October of 2008 showed that only 22 percent of the respondents were positive about cloud services, but by the end of 2009, 50 percent of them were interested in cloud services which is a tremendous increase.

There is an increase in longer term plans to use cloud computing within five years by two-thirds. It rose from 47 percent in 2008 to 73 percent in 2009. The businesses which stated that they would never use cloud has decreased to half the number over the past 15 months from 53 percent to 27 percent among those who were surveyed.

The survey also showed that there is a lack of preparedness on the security front for the majority of the companies which are planning to move. About 85 percent of them expressed that they have not planned on taking any extra security measures. About 71 percent of them have not worked on the strategy for implementing cloud computing.

About 35 percent of the SMEs believed cloud computing would save money in 2008 but this has increased to 51 percent. In the same way, 35 percent thought that the cloud computing will enable home working in 2008 and this has increased to 43 percent.

As the needs of companies are increasing, the technologies are being increased. If we see the communications field, the companies are planning to use the best, but with the reduced cost of communications. Then selecting the Unified Communications is the better idea in reducing the costs.

As the integration of all the services will be done by a single entity, many costs are saved and that factor is making most of the businesses to use Unified Communication. Some of the areas where the costs are being reduced using the Unified Communications are:

Conference Service Charges: The audio, video or web services costs are reduced using UC. The in-house conferencing system is used and which is cutting down the costs by carrying a premium cost per minute.

Travel expenses: As the employee travel is limited using the Unified communication. The employee need not travel to the other country instead the audio, video and web conferencing can be used for meeting the need, despite of traveling from one place to another place. So by the use of UC, travel expenses can be reduced.

Cell phone charges and the telephone tolls: long distance telephone and cellular carriers costs are reduced by deploying UC. As the waste calls are avoided by the indication and instant messaging can be used instead of calls.

Facilities Cost: Facilities costs are also reduced by deploying the UC. Both the operational and the lease payments are reduced.

These are the different cost savings which are making the businesses to use this Unified Communications.

The post What are the Cost Savings Which Occur Due to Deploying Unified Communications first appeared on BIG-TOPICS.COM.
